The Arctic Seal can be easily adopted for tow boat, push boat, dive boat, dock building boat, shadow boat, oil supply, tuna seiner etc. or can be put back in service as a fish catcher /processer freezer boat.
It can easily accommodate a large crew of 50 + lots of equipment in the holds, process deck area and top deck.
The capacity for fuel and fresh water and frozen stores could be greatly increased given the ballast tanks that are clean and available and the freezer hold that is 60ft by 22ft by 9ft.

M/V Arctic Seal Brief History

The M/V Arctic Seal is a supply boat that has been adopted for us as a factory processing fishing vessel. In the mid 1990's it had a major hull rebuild including new bottom plate and framing from the aft engine room to the fore peak and also some side plating and framing. The hull was found to have rotted out in the area of the mud tanks. An additional closed deck was added to house a refrigeration engine room, fish holding tanks, and fish processing and freezing space (see shelter deck layout). The boat has been taken out of fishing and the refrigeration equipment and fish processing equipment has been removed. This makes space available for workshop, additional accommodation, decompression chamber, etc. The top deck measures 85 feet from the deck house to top of ramps which is basically open space. There is a hydraulic system on board that powered the trawl winches or 4 point mooring system.

Work Completed since June 1, 2006

The M/V Arctic Seal was dry docked at Thames Shipyard in New London, Conn. In June and July 06. It had a full underwater and external above water service and paint. This work included high pressure washing externally, application of international 264 two part epoxy steel primer, application of international 5 year antifouling paint below water line, application of international top coat above water line. Two new echo sounders transducers were fitted on the boat, all sea chests and sea chests valves were disassembled, inspected and necessary repairs made. The propellers, propeller shafts, propeller shaft bearings, and rudder shafts and bearings were inspected and were found to be in good condition. Audio gauge readings were taken and the hull was found to be in good condition. New zinc anodes were installed on the hull. After dry dock the vessel has been berthed at the New London State Pier where I continued the total overhaul of the boat. This includes the renovation of accommodations, inspection and repair of electrical and plumbing systems in the hotel area. On deck work has included pressure washing, priming, and painting of deck house, bridge, rails, deck, and deck machinery. The fore peak holds, engine room, steering room and enclosed deck area have been cleaning, priming and painting engine room servicing and repairing main engines, generators, bilge pumps etc. Main engines and generators are presently running. Electronics: There are no electronics on the vessel.

Modification possibilities

At this time there is flexibility to make adoptions to meet customer's requirements such as putting additional cabins and bathrooms in processing area and using freezer hold for storage. This holds measures 60 feet long, 22 foot wide and 9 foot deep and is serviced by a 6 X 6 foot hatch. Other adoptions such as swim platform could be added to stern. Also, a boat of less than 9 foot beam could be hauled up stern ramp.

I invite inspection of the M/V Arctic Seal at New London, Conn. at any time. Thank you for your inquiry.
